Scripture Reading
21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
Devotional Reflection
As Great Lent continues, something subtle begins to happen.
When we fast… we notice our cravings.
When we pray… we notice our distractions.
When we simplify… we notice what we cling to.
Lent has a way of revealing the true orientation of our hearts.
And today, Jesus gives us a simple but searching principle.
Lent gently exposes our attachments.
When something small is removed — a favorite food, a comfort, a habit — we suddenly see how tightly we were holding it.
This isn’t meant to shame us.
It’s meant to free us.
Because once we see our attachments clearly, we can begin to loosen them.
And redirect our hearts toward God.
Closing Prayer
Lord,
Search my heart and reveal what I truly treasure.
Where my attachments have grown too strong, loosen them.
Where my priorities have drifted, realign them.
Teach me to treasure what is eternal.
And let my heart rest more deeply in You.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit,
Amen.
