Scripture Reading
2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
Devotional Reflection
Yesterday we reflected on Christ’s call to take up our cross and follow Him.
But the Cross is often misunderstood.
We imagine it as only suffering, only burden, only sacrifice.
Yet Scripture reveals something deeper.
Even at the center of the Cross, there is joy.
This is the mystery of the Christian life.
• We carry crosses.
• We fast.
• We restrain ourselves.
• We confront our weaknesses.
And yet Lent is not meant to be gloomy.
It is what the Church Fathers often describe as a joyful struggle.
Because we know where the road leads.
Every small act of faithfulness leads toward resurrection.
Closing Prayer
Lord Jesus,
You endured the Cross with joy set before You.
Teach me to carry my struggles with the same hope.
When the path feels difficult, remind me of the life that lies beyond it.
Let this season of Lent purify my heart and strengthen my faith.
And lead me through the Cross into the joy of Your resurrection.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit,
Amen.
