Scripture Reading
22 The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light.
23 But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!
Devotional Reflection
Yesterday we heard Christ say,
“Where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.”
Today, He continues that teaching with a powerful image.
He speaks about the eye — the lamp of the body.
In other words, the way we see the world shapes everything within us.
And Lent, in many ways, is about clearing our vision.
Our inner vision is shaped by what we constantly look at.
• What we consume.
• What we dwell on.
• What we allow to capture our attention.
If our attention feeds envy, anger, or pride, darkness grows within.
But if our attention turns toward prayer, mercy, and gratitude, light begins to grow.
Lent helps us reset our vision.
Closing Prayer
Lord,
Purify my vision.
Help me see the world through the light of Your truth.
Where my attention has wandered toward darkness, redirect it.
Give me a single heart and a clear eye.
Fill my life with the light that comes from knowing You.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit,
Amen.
