Into Your Hands

Luke 23:46 (LXX) · 2026-04-08

Surrender is not simply letting go—it is placing our lives into the hands of the Father. In His final words on the Cross, Jesus shows us what complete trust looks like, even in suffering.

Scripture Reading

46 And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, He said, Father, into Thy hands I commend My spirit: and having said thus, He gave up the ghost.

Devotional Reflection

We’ve been walking through the mystery of surrender—
what it means to let go, to trust, to release what we cannot hold onto.

But today, we move even deeper.

Because surrender is not just about letting go of something.
It’s about placing ourselves into Someone’s hands.

And on the Cross,
in His final moments,
Jesus shows us exactly what that looks like.

This is not resignation.
This is not defeat.
This is trustcomplete and unwavering.

Even in suffering…
even in darkness…
even at the very end—
Jesus entrusts Himself to the Father.

Not because the pain is gone.
But because the relationship remains.

“Into Your hands…”

These are not words of escape.
They’re words of offering.

Jesus doesn’t cling to life.
He doesn’t grasp for control.

He gives Himself fully—
not into uncertainty,
but into the hands of the Father.

And this is what makes surrender holy.
Not the loss…
but the trust behind it.

We often try to manage everything ourselves.
We hold tightly to outcomes.
We carry burdens we were never meant to carry.

But today’s invitation is simple:

Whose hands are you trusting?

Are you holding your life tightly in your own hands?
Or are you placing it—fully, intentionally—into God’s?

Surrender is not losing control.
It is placing your life
into better hands than your own.

Closing Prayer

Lord,

Into Your hands… I place my life.

Not just the parts that feel strong and certain,
but the parts that feel fragile, uncertain, and afraid.

You see what I cannot see.
You know what I cannot know.
And still, I hesitate to trust You fully.

Teach me to release my grip
on the things I was never meant to control.

Give me the courage to place my fears,
my plans, and my future
into Your hands.

When I am tempted to take control again,
remind me that Your hands are steady,
Your purposes are good,
and Your love never fails.

Help me to rest—not in outcomes,
but in You.

And whatever lies ahead,
let me walk forward
with quiet trust
that I am held.

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit,
Amen.
