There are moments in life when the truth becomes impossible to ignore.
Questions are settled.
Doubts are removed.
Reality stands clearly before us.
Paul has been leading us through one of the most beautiful passages in all of Scripture.
Christ humbled Himself.
He became obedient unto death.
God highly exalted Him.
And now Paul reveals the culmination of that story.
Not only will every knee bow.
Every tongue will confess.
The One who was rejected by many.
The One who was crucified.
The One who rose again.
Will be openly acknowledged as Lord.
Scripture Reading
11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Devotional Reflection
Paul speaks of a future day when every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.
The confession will be universal.
No uncertainty will remain.
No competing claim will stand.
No rival authority will endure.
Christ will be recognized for who He truly is.
Lord.
King.
Savior.
Redeemer.
This confession ultimately brings glory to God the Father.
Because everything the Son accomplished was in perfect obedience to the Father’s will.
The story of redemption does not end with the cross.
It culminates in the triumph and lordship of Christ.
For believers, this future confession is not merely an event to anticipate.
It is a reality to live today.
Every day we make choices that reveal who truly rules our hearts.
Not only through our words.
But through our priorities.
Our decisions.
Our trust.
To confess Christ as Lord means more than agreeing with a statement.
It means acknowledging His rightful place in our lives.
Allowing His voice to guide us.
Allowing His truth to shape us.
Allowing His will to take precedence over our own.
The confession of our lips becomes most meaningful when it is reflected in the way we live.
Today, consider whether your actions are aligned with your confession.
If someone observed your life this week, what would they conclude is most important to you?
Where does your time go?
Your attention?
Your energy?
To confess Christ as Lord is not merely a Sunday activity.
It is a daily surrender.
A daily trust.
A daily decision to place Him first.
Ask the Lord to help your life tell the same story your lips proclaim.
Closing Prayer
Lord Jesus Christ,
You are Lord.
Not only of heaven and earth,
but of my life as well.
Today I gladly confess what one day all creation will confess:
that You alone are worthy of all honor,
all worship,
and all praise.
Guard me from giving my heart to lesser things.
Keep me from allowing temporary concerns to occupy the place that belongs to You alone.
May my words honor You.
May my choices reflect You.
May my life bear witness to Your lordship.
And when I am tempted to follow my own will,
teach me to trust Yours instead.
Let the confession of my lips become the conviction of my heart,
and the pattern of my life.
For You are the risen Christ,
the exalted King,
and the Savior of the world.
To You be glory,
together with the Father and the Holy Spirit,
now and ever and unto ages of ages.
Amen.
