Let This Mind Be in You

Philippians 2:5 · 2026-06-17

As we fix our attention on Christ, His humility, compassion, and love begin to shape the way we think and live.

Every day, our thoughts influence the way we live.

The way we see others.

The way we respond to challenges.

The way we make decisions.

What fills our minds eventually shapes our actions.

That’s why Scripture often speaks not only about what we do,

but about how we think.

As Paul continues his letter to the Philippians,

he turns their attention to the greatest example they could ever follow.

Not a philosopher.

Not a ruler.

Not even an apostle.

He points them to Christ Himself.

And with a single sentence, Paul invites every believer into a lifelong journey of transformation.

Scripture Reading

5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus.

Devotional Reflection

Paul’s instruction is simple.

Let this mind be in you.

He’s inviting believers to adopt the attitude of Christ.

To see life through His example.

To value what He valued.

To love as He loved.

The mind of Christ is marked by humility.

Compassion.

Obedience.

And selfless love.

This doesn’t happen overnight.

It’s a work of grace that unfolds, day by day, as we draw closer to Him.

The more we fix our attention on Christ,

the more our hearts begin to reflect His character.

We naturally become like the things we focus on.

Spend enough time around bitterness,

and bitterness begins to grow.

Spend enough time around fear,

and fear begins to shape our outlook.

The same principle works in a positive way.

The more we contemplate Christ,

the more His life influences our own.

His patience challenges our impatience.

His mercy softens our harshness.

His humility exposes our pride.

Transformation often begins quietly.

One thought at a time.

One choice at a time.

One surrendered moment at a time.

Today, pay attention to what is occupying your thoughts.

What captures your attention?

What shapes your perspective?

What influences your decisions?

Then take a few moments to turn your attention toward Christ.

Read a portion of Scripture.

Offer a prayer.

Reflect on His goodness.

The goal isn’t simply to think more positive thoughts.

It’s to allow the mind of Christ to shape the way you live.

As your thoughts become more centered on Him,

your life will begin to reflect Him more clearly.

Closing Prayer

Lord,

Too easily, I allow my thoughts to be shaped by worries, distractions, and the pressures of daily life.

I focus on things that draw my attention away from You.

Forgive me for the times when my mind becomes consumed with things that do not lead me closer to Christ.

Help me cultivate the mind of Christ within me.

Teach me to think with humility.

To respond with compassion.

To walk in obedience.

And to love others as You have loved me.

Guard my thoughts.

Direct my attention.

And help me keep my eyes fixed upon Jesus.

May His character shape my words, my actions, and the desires of my heart.

And may I become more like Him with each passing day.

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit,

Amen.
