Yesterday, we met Tabitha.
A faithful disciple.
A woman full of good works.
Someone whose quiet kindness had touched many lives.
When she died, the community grieved deeply.
The widows gathered, holding the garments she had made.
Tangible reminders of a life poured out in love.
And into that place of sorrow, Peter arrives.
He kneels.
He prays.
And then he speaks two simple words.
Scripture Reading
40 But Peter put them all forth, and kneeled down, and prayed; and turning him to the body said, Tabitha, arise.
Devotional Reflection
Peter doesn’t rely on his own strength.
He prays first.
He turns to God.
And then, in the name and power of Christ, he speaks words of life.
This is the heart of the Gospel.
Death does not have the final word.
Loss is real.
Grief is real.
But Christ’s power is greater still.
Most of us carry places that feel lifeless.
Dreams that seem buried.
Relationships that feel broken.
Parts of ourselves that appear beyond repair.
We may not know how restoration will come.
But Scripture reminds us that nothing is beyond God’s reach.
Where He speaks life, hope returns.
Today, place before God whatever feels lost or depleted.
Don’t hide it.
Don’t assume it is too far gone.
Pray over it.
Entrust it to the One who brings life where none seems possible.
And even if restoration unfolds slowly, trust that God is able to work in ways you cannot yet see.
Closing Prayer
Lord,
There are places in my life that feel tired, wounded, or beyond repair.
At times I wonder whether hope is still possible.
Yet You are the God who brings life where none seems to remain.
Receive what I place before You today.
Take what feels broken, what feels buried, and what feels depleted.
Breathe Your life into those places.
Where grief lingers, bring comfort.
Where hope has faded, renew it.
Where I can see no path forward, help me trust Your power to restore.
Teach me to bring everything to You in prayer, believing that nothing is beyond Your reach.
And let Your life rise within me where I need it most.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.
