Episode 118

He Received His Sight

Acts 9:18 (LXX) · 2026-05-08

After encountering Christ, Saul’s blindness is removed and he begins to see clearly. Transformation changes not only our direction, but our vision.

Scripture Reading

18 And immediately there fell from his eyes as it had been scales: and he received sight forthwith, and arose, and was baptized.

Devotional Reflection

Saul’s journey has been unfolding step by step.

The road to Damascus.
The blinding light.
The surrender.
The waiting.
The prayer.
The kindness of Ananias.

And now, at last,
something changes.

Not only within him…

but around him.

The blindness lifts.

And Saul begins to see again.

“He received sight forthwith.”

Saul could physically see before Damascus.

But spiritually,
he had been blind.

Now, after encountering Christ,
his sight is restored in a deeper way.

This is often how transformation works.

God doesn’t just change our direction.

He changes our vision.

We begin to see ourselves differently.
Others differently.
Even life itself differently.

There are many things that cloud our vision.

Pride.
Fear.
Bitterness.
Assumptions.
Past wounds.

Over time, they become like scales over the eyes.

We may not even realize they’re there.

But Christ gently removes
what keeps us from seeing clearly.

Not to shame us;

but to heal us.

Ask God to reveal
what may be clouding your vision.

Is there something you’ve refused to see?
A perspective that needs to change?
A truth you’ve resisted?

Do not be afraid of clarity.

Healing often begins
when the scales begin to fall.

And when God opens our eyes,
it becomes possible to walk differently.

Closing Prayer

Lord,

There are places in my life
where I do not yet see clearly.

At times my vision is shaped
more by fear, pride, habit, or past hurt
than by truth.

Remove whatever keeps me
from seeing rightly.

Open my eyes to Your presence.
Open my eyes to others.
Open my eyes to myself.

Where I have been blind,
bring clarity.

Where I have resisted truth,
bring humility.

And where healing is needed,
bring restoration.

Teach me to walk in the light
of what You reveal,
even when it challenges me to change.

Because clearer vision
is not meant to condemn me—
it is meant to lead me closer to You.

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit,
Amen.
