Scripture Reading
26 And the angel of the Lord spake unto Philip, saying, Arise, and go toward the south unto the way that goeth down from Jerusalem unto Gaza, which is desert.
Devotional Reflection
We’ve spent time with the early Church, watching believers grow in courage, devotion, grace, and character.
But faith is not only formed in stillness.
There are moments when God calls us to move.
• Not always with full explanation.
• Not always with a detailed plan.
• Sometimes, simply with a direction.
And today, Philip receives just such a call.
Arise and go.
Philip isn’t given every detail.
He isn’t told the whole story.
He’s simply told:
Arise.
Go.
This is often how God leads.
Not with complete visibility—
but with enough light for the next step.
We may want certainty.
But many times, guidance comes as movement.
We sometimes delay obedience
because we want the full picture.
We want reassurance.
We want guarantees.
We want to know how everything will unfold.
But if Philip had waited for complete understanding,
he may have missed the appointment God had prepared.
Some doors only open
after we begin to walk.
Today, consider where God may be nudging you.
A conversation to begin.
A habit to change.
A place to serve.
A fear to move through.
You don’t need every answer.
You may only need the next step.
Arise.
And go.
Closing Prayer
Lord,
There are moments when I hesitate
because I cannot see far enough ahead.
I wait for certainty,
for perfect timing,
for every detail to be clear.
Yet You so often lead me
one step at a time.
Give me the courage to trust Your guidance
even when the path is not fully visible.
When You call me to move,
free me from delay.
When You open a door,
give me willingness to walk through it.
When fear speaks loudly,
let Your peace speak louder.
Teach me that obedience
does not always begin with understanding—
it often begins with trust.
Guide my steps today.
Direct my heart.
And help me to move faithfully
wherever You are leading me.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit,
Amen.
