Full of Faith

Acts 6:5 (LXX) · 2026-04-28

Stephen is introduced not by status or accomplishment, but by what filled him: faith and the Holy Spirit. What fills us inwardly shapes who we become outwardly.

Scripture Reading

5 And the saying pleased the whole multitude: and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Ghost, and Philip, and Prochorus, and Nicanor, and Timon, and Parmenas, and Nicolas a proselyte of Antioch:

Devotional Reflection

Yesterday, we saw the early Church respond wisely to growing needs.

Help was needed.
Responsibilities were shared.
New servants were chosen.

And among those selected, one name stands out.

Stephen.

Before we hear anything about his preaching,
his courage,
or his witness—

Scripture first tells us what filled him.

Faith.

And the Holy Spirit.

Because in God’s Kingdom,
who we are within
matters deeply.

Full of faith.

Stephen is not introduced by title.
Not by status.
Not by accomplishments.

He is introduced by what filled him.

Faith.
The Holy Spirit.

This reminds us that usefulness to God
begins long before visibility.

Before public moments…
there is private formation.

Before influence…
there is inner fullness.

We are all being filled by something.

Stress.
Distraction.
Fear.
Comparison.

Or faith.

The question is not whether something shapes us.

The question is what shapes us.

Stephen’s strength didn’t begin
when pressure arrived.

It was already within him.

What fills us in quiet seasons
often reveals itself in difficult ones.

Today, pay attention to what’s filling your heart.

What are you consuming?
What are you dwelling on?
What are you feeding inwardly?

Make room for better things.

Scripture.
Prayer.
Gratitude.
Stillness.
Trust.

You may not see immediate results.

But what fills you today
shapes who you become tomorrow.

Closing Prayer

Lord,

You care not only about what I do,
but about who I am becoming.

I confess that I often focus on outward things—
tasks, appearances, accomplishments—
while neglecting the inner life.

Fill me again with faith.

Where anxiety has crowded my heart,
bring trust.

Where distraction has scattered me,
bring steadiness.

Where discouragement has taken root,
bring hope.

Let Your Spirit dwell richly within me.

Teach me to seek quiet faithfulness
before visible success.

Form my character in hidden places.
Strengthen me in ordinary moments.

And when challenges come,
let what rises from within
reflect Your presence.

Because I want to be known
not merely for what I achieve,
but for what fills me.

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit,
Amen.
